Meme – please respond, link back & pass it on!

I am responding to the post by Kate Morris on British Mummy Bloggers so I am going to have a crack – I have to answer these questions and then tag 8 more people to do the same, who and how to tag I haven’t got a clue so that is today’s personal challenge!  Full instructions on what to do are at the end of this post.

1.  What are your current obsessions?
Getting ready for family holiday to Cornwall, new bathroom work in progress, new kitchen work starting 1st June, moving baby number one out of cot & into new bedroom to make room for baby number two – due 5th October!

2. Which item from your wardrobe do you wear most often?
Maternity jeans given to me by my friend Sarah, very little else fits, old maternity wardrobe wring season & three sizes too big!  Need to shop, but need time to shop!

3. What’s for dinner
Have pork mince in fridge … what it will turn into I don’t know yet, may have to freeze it and get take away due to lack of inspiration!

4. Last thing you bought?
“Who knows whose nose” game from Early Learning Centre

5. What are you listening to?
Birds in the garden and drilling from the bathroom!

6. Do you have a pet and if not, why not?
Nope, not the living furry kind – have enough mouths to feed already and things to organise for holidays!  Lots of pet hates though!

7. Favourite holiday spots?
Port Isaac in Cornwall, no mobile phone signal, no broadband, seaside, rock pools & fish & chips!

8. Reading right now?
Anyone Can Do It: My Story by Duncan Bannatyne

9. 4 words to describe yourself.
Kind, Thoughtful, Assertive, Tired!

10. Guilty pleasure?
Not sharing champagne or chocolate!

11. Who or what makes you laugh until you’re weak?
My friends – different people, different times, but they all mean the world to me.

12. Look at your feet what do you see?
My beloved sanuks

13. Planning to travel to next?
Port Isaac, Cornwall – end of next week – can’t wait

14. Best thing you ate or drank lately?
Being pregnant lots of things I would like to be able to list e.g. Champagne, Brie etc. I haven’t eaten lately… I reackon Martini’s in Milan in January before I found out I was pregnant!

15. When did you last get tipsy?
Mid January in Milan on Martini’s!

16. Favourite ever film?
Can’t just do one – Casino, Princess Bride & Terms of Endearment

17. Care to share some wisdom?
It’s no good trying to keep up old friendships. It’s painful for both sides. The fact is, one grows out of people, and the only thing is to face it.

18. Favourite song?
I’m not a big muso, I don’t have a favourite it all depends on when, where & with whom!

19. What will you do next after publishing your post?
I’m off to pop the kettle on and have a quick cuppa, then dash to the shops before collecting H from nursery.

Vaccination update …

Prepare for everything and require nothing … why is it always the way?!  The jab didn’t happen!

By pure chance the doctor at the private clinic happened to be a doctor from our NHS GP Practice and apparently it is a complete no, no and strike-off-able offence for a doctor to treat a patient private who is registered at their NHS Practice.  Humpf!

Needless to say, I was neither impressed nor amused, however rather than put my time and energy into ranting about the lack of competence and process to check the relevant information before H missed a nursery session (already paid for of course) and I missed a days work (therefore not paid for)!  I shall simply say we have rescheduled at another clinic for mid May and the silver lining is the cost of the jab is £35 cheaper.

Next stop holiday – list making has started and the final countdown has begun!

Pox – the chicken variety!

Tomorrow I am taking my only just two year old son H to a private clinic for a chicken pox jab – I have debated this with my husband, myself, my mother, myself, my friends, myself and just about any other person that will stand still long enough!   I hate having jabs myself yet find myself not only voluntarily taking my son for an additional one but also paying for it too – I have surprised myself that’s for sure.

I’m happy with the decision for H to have the jab it is for all the right reasons for him and our family but as always I am not looking forward to the actual event – I have worked out easy leg access clothing for H and have my bag packed with homepathic remedies (for both of us!) to help, plus calpol & neurofen, dummies, chocolate, have held back some birthday gifts for extra treats and will be heading straight round to Grandma & Grandpa’s house for some extra cuddles & spoiling.

Wish me luck – I’ll report back on the experience!  Cx

Mums in Control

A mum in control I don’t profess to be – I try – like us all!  But generally by 8am I have failed!

But this post is about the magazine Mums in Control and not me (for a change!) – they supported Dandelion Lounge in our first year of trading with editoral coverage and are now launching their own website in early May 2009 so I am keen to reciprocate the support with a “plug” and link to their site which is sure to be a great read as their magazine is the UK’s number 1 magazine for working mums.
